James Baker was born in 1976. He lives in Nottingham and currently studying Fine Art at Loughborough University’s School of Art and Design (LUSAD).  After graduating from the University of West of England in 1997 he pursued a career in IT until he made the decision to follow his true passion of painting and drawing in 2004. 

His unique style is gaining him a steady national reputation despite still being at art college, where he is able to develop and experiment his techniques before producing his work in home studio.

Despite being best known for his contemporary landscape pieces, James is also a founder of the Art Canvas group of Nottingham that specialise in large mural designs around the city.  He also works in a variety of other mediums and subjects including his Paradise Found series of paintings based on his travels in the rainforests of West Africa.
